It has been revealed today that major UKIP donor and NEC member Alan Bown has today endorsed Peter Whittle to be the next leader of UKIP, stating: “Having worked alongside him in his role as Deputy Leader, I know that Peter Whittle has the courage, experience and leadership skills needed to make our party a real challenger again. If elected leader, Peter would have my full support”. This bodes well for his leadership campaign bid as he remains the bookies hot favourite to win the race.
This endorsement comes after rival leadership candidate Jane Collins, running under the banner UKIP United, claimed that the UKIP Bankroller was backing her leadership bid. This seems to have been a fabrication.
