Theresa May has confirmed there will be a transitional period of “around 2 years” after Britain leaves the EU – this will mean the continuation of free movement of people.
This will worry Brexiteers because the European Courts could still hold sway and Brexit will be dragged out for an indefinite period of time.
She also called for a bespoke trade deal between Britain and the EU and said the UK will honour its financial commitments to Brussels.
May said she wants Britain and the EU to work very closely on security in her landmark speech in Florence.
She added that she wanted to set the tone of “partnership and friendship” and “trust”.
What about the “trust” of the British people – 52% voted to leave and now the Prime Minister is keeping Britain tied to Brussels for many years to come. Disgraceful.
