Sir Michael Fallon has just resigned from the Cabinet over sexual harassment claims The English Channel understands. He has said that his behaviour had “fallen short” of the standards expected to be upheld by the military.
Theresa May has said that she “appreciates” the serious regard in which he holds his role. However this new found conscience seems to have only arisen after these claims have been made public.
This has happened after The Sun ran an article about him allegedly putting his hand on a reporter’s knee in 2002, which Fallon has admitted.
As part of his resignation letter Fallon stated “A number of allegations have surfaced about MPs in recent days, including some about my previous conduct.
“Many of these have been false but I accept that in the past I have fallen below the high standards that we require of the Armed Forces that I have the honour to represent.”
